- 8 ounces Ribeye Steak, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt, divided
- 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper, divided
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 4 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 1 loaf French bread, cut in half lengthwise
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 8 ounces Provolone cheese, sliced
Instructions
1. Prepare the Steak
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season the ribeye steak with half the salt and pepper and coat it with canola oil.
- Heat a cast iron skillet on high heat and cook the steak for 2 minutes without stirring or flipping.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, stir to coat, then remove the steak from the pan.
2. Sauté the Vegetables
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add green bell pepper, onion, mushrooms, and remaining salt and pepper.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until softened and slightly browned.
3. Assemble the Cheesy Bread
- Spread mayonnaise evenly over both halves of the French bread.
- Layer half of the provolone cheese slices on the bread.
- Top with the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables.
- Add the remaining provolone cheese.
4. Bake and Serve
- Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
