  • 8 ounces Ribeye Steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper, divided
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 4 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 loaf French bread, cut in half lengthwise
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 ounces Provolone cheese, sliced

Instructions

1. Prepare the Steak

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Season the ribeye steak with half the salt and pepper and coat it with canola oil.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet on high heat and cook the steak for 2 minutes without stirring or flipping.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, stir to coat, then remove the steak from the pan.

2. Sauté the Vegetables

  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add green bell pepper, onion, mushrooms, and remaining salt and pepper.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until softened and slightly browned.

3. Assemble the Cheesy Bread

  • Spread mayonnaise evenly over both halves of the French bread.
  • Layer half of the provolone cheese slices on the bread.
  • Top with the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables.
  • Add the remaining provolone cheese.

4. Bake and Serve

  • Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
