Description

Deliciously simple cheesy garlic butter rollups combine flaky crescent dough with melty cheese and savory garlic butter for an irresistible appetizer or side dish that comes together in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Rollups:
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or your favorite melty cheese)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • For the Garlic Butter:
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For Garnish (Optional):
  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Extra Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangles on a clean work surface. Make sure the triangles are fully separated and flat.
  3. Assemble the Rollups: Sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella and a light sprinkle of Parmesan onto each triangle, distributing the cheese evenly over the surface but leaving a small border around the edges. Starting from the wide end of each triangle, roll the dough toward the pointed tip, enclosing the cheese completely. Place each rollup on the prepared baking sheet with the seam side down to prevent it from opening during baking.
  4. Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the melted butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt until well combined. The warm butter will help infuse the garlic flavor throughout the mixture.
  5. Brush with Garlic Butter: Using a pastry brush, generously coat each rollup with the garlic butter mixture, ensuring all exposed surfaces are covered. Reserve a small amount of butter for after baking to enhance the flavor.
  6. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the rollups for 10-12 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and the cheese inside is completely melted. The dough should be fully cooked and slightly crisp on the outside.
  7. Finish and Serve: Remove from the oven and immediately brush the hot rollups with any remaining garlic butter. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and additional Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve warm while the cheese is still gooey for the best experience.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter mixture.
  • These rollups can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before baking. Just add 1-2 minutes to the baking time.
  • Try different cheese combinations like cheddar, provolone, or pepper jack for variety.
  • For a make-ahead option, you can freeze unbaked rollups and bake from frozen, adding about 5 minutes to the baking time.
  • Serve with marinara sauce for dipping to transform these into a pizza-inspired appetizer.
