Description
Crispy, tender salmon bites tossed in a sweet and spicy bang bang sauce. These flavorful appetizer bites are quick to prepare and perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound salmon fillets, skin removed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Thai sweet chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon sriracha
- 1 teaspoon honey
- ½ teaspoon lime juice
Instructions
- Prepare the salmon – Cut the salmon into 1-inch cubes and place them in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Gently toss to ensure all pieces are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
- Stovetop method – Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned salmon cubes in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy on the outside while remaining tender inside. Work in batches if necessary.
- Oven method – Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Arrange the seasoned salmon cubes on the prepared sheet with space between each piece. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and slightly crispy on the edges.
- Air fryer method – Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the seasoned salmon cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they don’t touch. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through cooking time, until golden and crispy.
- Prepare the bang bang sauce – While the salmon cooks, prepare the sauce by combining mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice in a small bowl. Whisk together until smooth and well combined.
- Combine and serve – Transfer the cooked salmon bites to a serving dish. Either drizzle the bang bang sauce over the top or gently toss the salmon in the sauce to coat evenly. Garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, or chopped cilantro if desired.
Notes
- Bang Bang Salmon Bites are best served immediately while hot and crispy. For a healthier version, you can use Greek yogurt in place of mayonnaise. These bites pair well with steamed rice or a fresh green salad for a complete meal. Adjust the sriracha amount based on your preferred spice level.
