- 1 large egg
- 2 cups grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or a combination)
Instructions
1. Activate the Yeast

- Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
2. Make the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt.

- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
3. First Rise
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
4. Shape the Buns
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Flatten each piece, place a tablespoon of grated cheese in the center, and fold the dough around it to form a bun.
5. Second Rise
- Arrange the buns on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for 30 minutes.
6. Bake the Buns
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the tops with milk or beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese is oozing out.
7. Serve and Enjoy
- Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving for the best melty texture.
- Enjoy them warm on their own or as a side to soups, salads, or main dishes.
